INTERN AND PRACTICUM STUDENTS

Position Description:

This is a training position for students studying mental health, counseling, clinical psychology, or substance abuse therapy, or recent graduates of such programs. Under the supervision of licensed professionals, students will observe licensed practitioners during counseling sessions, acquire experience and practice counseling themselves, learn and provide diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to different mental health issues, perform administrative duties such as taking patient histories and completing insurance reimbursement and billing paperwork.

 ACTIVITIES

PEER RECOVERY SUPPORT SPECIALIST SUPERVISOR

Position Description:

The UP Foundation welcomes persons who are interested in becoming a peer recovery specialist. This is an outstanding opportunity for those who must have 500 hours of direct experience before being certified. If you are interested in becoming a Peer Recovery Specialist, please contact us.

The Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (CPRS) is an active member of the team and provides peer support services to clients with mental illnesses and substance addiction.  Under supervision of the Clinical Director and the CPRS supervisor, the CPRS will function as a role model to peers; exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills; serve as a consumer advocate, providing consumer information and peer support for participants in outpatient and inpatient settings. The CPRS performs a wide range of tasks to assist peers in regaining independence within the community and mastery over their own recovery process.

VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers will help with everyday business tasks such as filing, updating spreadsheets, research on the internet, provide support for meetings, events or with special projects or assist with social media. Volunteers assist participants or staff in various tasks to accomplish specific goals according to the mission of The UP Foundation.

 Responsibilities:

·       Volunteers must be available for a minimum of a 2-hour shift

·       Typical hours are regular business hours M-F 9:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.

·       Volunteers must be flexible as some tasks may have very short deadlines

·       Volunteers may be requested to assist with special events and projects which may include evenings or weekends
