About the 12-Steps…

One barrier to young people achieving recovery is anxiety. People want to feel that they belong to a specific group. For this reason, many young people find it difficult to achieve sustainable recovery in traditional 12-Step programs. They feel that they are too young, and thus unable to relate to other members because they have not endured similar consequences. To combat this issue, The UP Foundation’s CPRS host youth-oriented 12-Step Groups that consist of mainly younger persons. This allows members to relate to one another, and in doing so, develop morale and accountability.

The 12-Step programs walk these individuals through how to first achieve time in recovery, and then how begin being a more functional member of society, how to be the best that they can be, and how they can deal with all of the feelings that they currently have or will encounter. The 12-Step program will allow your young loved one to grow into the person they always knew they could be, before they began using, and help them maintain a healthy lifestyle instead.
